We are seeking a Virtual Benefit & Eligibility Worker to join our Tillamook Virtual Eligibility Team.
This position is in our Virtual Eligibility Center (VEC) and assists Oregonians over the phone.
While this position is not fully remote, the successful candidate may be approved a hybrid schedule to telework from home after training is completed.
Staff may be required to come into the office for ongoing trainings, meetings, and reviews.

The Self Sufficiency Offices help with food benefits (SNAP), cash for families (TANF), childcare assistance (ERDC), medical, refugee services, and domestic violence services.
Self-Sufficiency Programs Mission:
To provide a safety net, family stability and a connection to careers that guide Oregonians out of poverty.
As a Virtual Benefit & Eligibility Worker, you will:
Determines initial financial eligibility for Medicaid, APD Financial Eligibility, TANF, Domestic Violence services, SNAP, Medical and Employment Related Day Care applicants.
Interview applicants by phone to gather information needed to assess and determine if there is a need for services and benefits.
Assessing client family needs, referring families to other resources and programs.
Provide thorough documentation in a narrative report summarizing new information from client and collateral sources, as well as any actions taken on a case.
Attend Trainings and Meetings on a regular basis to ensure you have the most up to date information at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
You must be an Oregon resident, as this position requires in office work, trainings, and meetings.
What you need to qualify Two years of experience determining eligibility for an agency program by interviewing to assess the needs of clients, and interpreting and applying the policies, rules, and guidelines that are applicable to the client's situation.
Any college courses may be substituted for the two years of general experience on a year-for-year basis (45 quarter hours is equivalent to one year of experience).
A photocopy of your transcripts must be attached to your application materials if using college courses to meet the minimum qualifications.

Your duties at a glance As a Benefit and Eligibility Worker, you will:
Determine financial eligibility for Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) programs.
Process applications that are new and re-certifying by reviewing the applicant's financial and non-financial situations.
Determine eligibility correctly and in a timely manner by following complex rules and policies.
Referring applicants with additional needs to appropriate agencies.
Working conditions The ongoing work schedule will be 10am-7pm.
During the first 90-180 days of training, the schedule will be 8am - 5pm at the Tillamook ODHS office.
There may also be additional trainings/meetings that require an 8-5 schedule during employment.
Requires sitting/standing at a terminal or telephone for the majority of the workday.
May require a valid driver's license or other acceptable method of transportation.
May interact with clients who are under emotional or financial stress.
There are frequent opportunities for compensated overtime but will need manager approval prior to working.
95% of work is spent answering back-to-back phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
While this position can be remote after training and with approval from supervisor, a hybrid or in office working schedule is possible.
Staff may be required to come into the office for ongoing trainings, meetings, and reviews.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
