What you will do:
An internship at the Tillamook Creamery presents a unique view into the world of retail. Working with our team of marketing, buyers, and store, Merchandising Interns will get firsthand experience of the product development from concept to store shelf. very few places allow an intern to go through the entire process from selection to designing displays for the product. The summer will be filled with learning our brand, understanding our fans, and the relationship that exists between them.
Here's a day in the life:
Teaming with our marketing group in Portland, Merchandising Interns will learn our core values, vision, and visual goals for the Creamery. Learning about our history and Farmer Owners will allow the Merchandising Intern the ability to select, design, and carry out the vision that has made Tillamook the premium choice for dairy for 109 years.
Working with our buying team in Tillamook, the Merchandising Intern will learn what it takes to develop product from concept to reality. The Merchandising Intern will learn how to identify trends, quality of potential product, and reputable vendors to select from. Merchandising Intern will present concepts and gain approval from marketing while staying within our brand guidelines. Once produce has been approved and the order placed, the Merchandising Intern will help set pricing in accordance with our margin goals and pricing strategies.
Finally, the Merchandising Intern will be working with our store team. During this time, the intern will be demonstrating visual merchandising skills and working with the store management on presentation and guest experience. They will also begin to work on the operation side of the business, learning inventory techniques and processes as well as operating systems.
Skills you'll need:
Education:
Must currently be enrolled in a fashion degree program
Experience:
Knowledge of Retail Industry
Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail
Other:
Internships will begin summer 2019 (July - August) and last for 8 weeks
All interns will be required to complete a project at the end of the internship program
This program is set up to accommodate a summer intern (8-week program). This allows for a program that will fit the schedules of graduating seniors and students between their 2nd and 3rd years and 3rd and 4th years. This is the most important aspect of the merchandising career path and the most complicated to master.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
